FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Where do my step counts come from?

Directly from Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android — the same source your phone already uses. Stept never asks you to log steps manually.

What's the difference between strict and flexible streak mode?

Strict mode resets your streak the moment you miss your goal for a day. Flexible mode forgives one missed day per week, so an off day doesn't erase weeks of progress. You can switch any time in Settings.

Who is "Pace" on my friends list?

Pace is Stept's built-in pacesetter — a steady benchmark tied to your own daily goal, so there's always someone to beat even before you've added real friends.

Can I use Stept without adding friends?

Yes. Streaks, reminders, and history all work on their own. Friends and the leaderboard are optional, added later if you want them.

How do reminders work?

Set them by fixed times or a repeating interval, with an active window so they only fire during hours that make sense for you.

Is my data shared with anyone?

No. Your step data is yours. Friends only see what you'd see on a leaderboard — today's count, streak, and rank — never anything more. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, any time, from Settings. It permanently removes your steps, reminders, and friend connections — there's no recovery window, so it's worth being sure.

Is Stept free?

Yes, and it doesn't run ads. If we ever add a way to support Stept directly, it'll be optional and clearly labeled — never a requirement to use the app.
